On November 13, 1987 I dug my first Indian head cent, dated 1893, with my brand new White's 6000 Di Pro at Swinburne Park in Albany, New York. Today I dug my 945th Indian head, dated 1888, in Lincoln Park in Albany with my trusty Minelab Explorer SE Pro. So I have set a goal to reach #1000 by the anniversary date of my first one (November 13, 2017). So I need to dig 55 more which is a little more than what I average in a year. It gives me some initiative to get out more. Hopefully I'll find a few other nice silvery ones while hunting for Indian head cent #1000.

Wow, you must of found some great sites for Indian's.... I live in Youngsille, NY, about 20 miles north , west of Monticello... I started in 1990 and only have about 125 indianheads... but, I guess I walked over lots of them , hunting for only silver, my first 10-15 years.. lol Good luck on your 1,000

Most of them came from four different city parks in Albany. They are getting tougher to find but hopefully there's a few more out there.

I'm only lacking three dates to complete the full set. 1908-S, 1909-S and of course the 1877 !

Way to go, Ed! I'll see you out there one of these days. Got an 1881 Indian today while visiting RI. Probably will hit Lincoln next weekend.
