Forino wanted to get out on one last hunt before he goes to Florida on a 2 week vacation. He picked me up at 8am and temps were at 7 degrees above zero :tard: we pondered at the thought of bailing out of the hunt :icon_scratch: I said "Mike we gotta live up to our hardcore reputation here..Lets' do this! " :laughing7: so we were off! when the sun got higher and hit 25 it felt almost like spring compared to the early morning.
Was easy diggin in the woods still thank God! I got a 1906 IH,a horse buckle a few brass scraps,a bunch of old headstamps and a very nice CW Artillery eagle button.no pushes, almost full gilt, complete shank and a clear backmark.a nice start to 2012.
I see horstmann bros & drucker

Nice One HMN. :icon_thumleft:  It's true we do dig those fairly often down here but I tell you what, the backmark on that one is sweet, a very Nice Pre-War Eagle "A" w/ Gilt, cannot go wrong there buddy! :occasion14:

P.S. Hogge we get to dig those Rev War buttons in the South too, Yorktown, Virginia 10 minutes away from me has produced hundreds! ;D  :occasion14:

Point taken. I keep forgetting about the "Northern South" :laughing7: All kidding aside, I know that South Carolina and even Florida has produced many also. There are ALOT of Southern States that have produced many GR plates and buckles. It's more rare for us "Northerners" to dig Civil War relics than you guys to dig Rev. War relics.

Yes I would agree with that my friend. By the way, speaking of British plates, here's an ultra rare one that my buddy and I dug up 2 years ago here in Virginia (a day to remember)...this one has the Lion of England Crowned in the Middle instead of "GR", sold for several thousand to Don Troiani.

AWESOME PLATE! The 85th French Saintonge Regiment button I have pictured was also sold to Don Troiani for $250. I thought it was a fair price. The smaller ones were selling for $150. Mine was 21 or 23 mm,(I forget). Although mine was in better shape than most pictured at that price. I was happy! ;D

Killer button :headbang:

You stuck it out and was rewarded :icon_thumleft:

Blaze

that button is the Best I ever saw dug up here in the North :o :laughing7: you would probably do well in CW dirt in VA :headbang:
