1st relic hunt of 08' snags a 1853 Seated Dime
My buddies and I were planning on doing the beach today because the ground was frozen yesterday but at the last minute we changed our minds. We decided to take a chance and hit a field that George got permission from yesterday. The farmer said, "Sure no problem, park your cars up here on the lawn." The ground was still semi-frozen but we managed slowly recovering our finds.I found the seated, two buttons with shanks and the buckle there. After that we went to another field that is state owned. We parked in the Church parking lot and saw the security for this large church drive by and check us out. 10 minutes later the police showed up. As I was walking to where George was talking to the cop I saw him reach in his pocket and take out his wallet. Oh boy, here we go I'm thinking. After about 10 minutes of explaining what we were doing and showing him the things we found and were looking for he says, "Good luck and happy hunting". He thought the dime was pretty cool. I only got one more oval shaped button that I thought was a cufflink after that.
All in all it was still a good day to be out with friends doing what we love to do.
Happy Hunting all,
