NEW Minelab CTX 3030
Garrett GTI 1500 (board is out)
Well, I got my Christmas wish. My Garrett 1500GTI came in just in time to put it under the tree. I used it yesterday for the first time, (remember, I'm a newbie), and needless to say it's taking me some time to figure this thing out.

BUT--my first find...was a lock. Funny thing, I was so excited...haha. My husband was with me, I pinpointed it and figured it was about 4 inches. Started digging and there it was....I felt like I found a burried treasure...haha, my husband got a kick out of my excitement. I continued and found a potted meat can, then some leads for fishing lures etc. All of this was in an abandoned yard next to my sisters home, which was destroyed by Katrina. The lot had nothing but grown weeds and a couple slabs and broken hurricane fences. Lots of beeps, pings etc...lots of junk. My sisters yard was horrible to hunt in because they bull-dozed it and there was so much trash mixed up in the soil. My detector was going crazy with noise. So, it's basically impossible to do her yard.

All in all, I had a great time...still have lots to learn. This morning, I took it in my back yard and found a penny!

I've posted pics...after all, it's my 1st HUNT!

Have a great day,
CM

Welcome to the hobby and to the forum. The more you use your machine, the better you will get at sorting those trash signals from the good ones. Pay attention to your machine, learn its methods, and you will soon have confidence in what it is telling you. And if in doubt, dig!
