Desperate to swing I braved the sleet and 20 mph winds on a local spot just 20 minutes away. That Deus is really amazing since we wrote this spot off years ago. I stayed in the iron bed and dug anything even half worthwhile. I should have been using the 9" and will next time. I dang near froze out there for a few bits of metal. But i really like the button. The cuff link is pretty cool too. Got it and the connecting piece. I realized I had found a similar piece at another site late last year. Looks like a close enough match to put them together.

I like those early Navy, found a few similar. Cufflinks are always good too!

Without looking back, is that one of those Navy/Merchant buttons we don't have a confirmed ID on, or are those stripes on it making it something else? Do you have the ID on it?

British Navy, issued to captains and commanders in 1774. Things changed in 1787, but those early ones continued on and were worn by less ranking officers, or maybe even non officers. So I just call them 1700s British Naval buttons.

I really like that frame!, I had one last year, not knowing what I had, I tossed it, stupid me

great finds!!

Oh no, really? Wow that stinks. I cant even bring myself to throw away the old blobs of lead. lol

Whoa! Killer green patina on those dudes! I thought I wasn't into old buttons, but the more of them I see and find the more motivated I get. They're not quite as cool as coins, but the roundness gets my motor going, especially the flat buttons. Great hunts!

Those are some amazing finds, I especially like the cuff links! :occasion14:
Congratulations on locating its mate.

Dave

Great group of finds.
