After seeing a Low Flying Flock of Geese today,
Weather Today got nice enough to Get out & Meet up with DKinPA.

I Had to take my New SE Pro out for a Test Drive.

DROVE ME NUTS !!!!

Well Maybe Not Realy :D

I Am starting to Believe the 11" Coil
and Power from these Detectors is just Too much
for Trashy Areas, Half my time was Spent
Listening to Noise changes & Nothing Solid enough To
Convince me to dig.

Proof of this is Here

Anyone who Has Detected with me Knows,
This is 5 Minutes Of Detecting for Me.

Part of my Time was Spent were Trash was at a Bare Minimum

& I Got a Loud Solid Repeatable Signal

This was found about 3" Deep

Back is Smooth No reason to Scan it.

My first hour with this machine was almost enough to send me selling it on ebay. It wasnt until I switched the response sound from "normal" to "long" that things instantly changed for me. Not 5 minutes later I was picking out good signals from all the sputtering iron on a well spent site. 2 hours later I was holding a half dozen buttons and several relics and like I say, the place was well hammered.

Maybe its because I come from 20+ years of using whites top of the line detectors but I could not grasp the Explorer SE with the normal response sound. It sounded like I stuck my head in a bowl of rice crispies with all the snaps crackles and pops!

I Went direct to Pitch Hold.
I read it was supposed to sound like my sovereign.

But that was only the case on the round Statue of Liberty
find.
I'll give Long a try

The dime I Realy don't Remember, But Don't Think
I Was convinced it was a real hit.

the Aluminum piece was solid & High
but very deep.

the rest were iffy but at least I Was convinced to dig.

everything else was sputters that moved around
the more i tryed to pinpoint in disc.

pinpoint Just sounded Like a loud tone getting louder & Wider
the longer it was on, so I Avoided Pinpoint mode.
Reminded me of when My Sovereign Battery Went Dead.
it just screamed everywhere

Usually I At least came home with A ton of trash

I never tried the pitch hold. I was so satisfied with the long setting...I did try out smooth which drove me nuts almost as fast as normal.

Can You pinpoint in Disc with the Tip of the Coil
in Long ?

I was able to use the Tip & Nail pinpointing Realy Good
on Solid repeatable Signals using Pitch Hold

That I dont know. I dont use pinpoint to be honest. Finally getting accurate with the SE. With the depth indicator right there I just dont need to. I can just dig a plug and the target is either in the plug are further down.

Jeff,

You will get it figured out soon... but something that might help in that trashy site will be a small coil like the Sunray X5. I could not believe the difference in seperation between the even the Minelab 8" and the Sunray X5.

Yeah I know what you mean Jeff. I have two buddies that swear by their Minelab SE and ETrac but are ADAMANT about not diggin' with them in real trashy areas. Guess that is a common thread amongst Minelab users. But at least you got out today which is more than I can say. :icon_thumleft:

just need time to get the ying in ur yang.. MR TUFF

I'm definately Learning some new Tricks to try Rob.

Frustration on the First Hunt has
turned to weather frustration these Days,
& looking more & More like it may be april
before I Get my Next try.
