DAY 1
The park we went camping in last week has 2 other swimming areas. They all started the summer with no water for swimming and have since gotten to half full with people swimming. They haven’t gotten a lot of use, but there is always hope a goodie or 2 will get lost for me to find.
I spent 3.5 hours swingin the ATPro in the water in the second area. I found a batch of jewelry, a selfie stick retainer, a bunch of sinkers, 2 tabs, a dime, a fishing swivel spill, a dime, 2 toy cars and foil. A decent number of finds, but only one coin.
I found 2 rings. One that looks like silver but isn’t and a LOVE TOKEN stainless ring.
The only goodie was the little cz stud earring that is silver. Not a great hunt, but a decent one that was fun in the cool water on a hot day.
DAY 2
I did the last swimming area and there were fewer targets, but some good quality ones. I spent 2.5 hours swingin the ATPro in the water (I left early because it was getting crowded in the water)and found 10 coins with a face value of $1.13, a scan tag, a chain, some other jewelry, a sinker, part of an old fishing lure, a car wash token and foil.
The scan tags can be a pain because they give a nice mid tone signal so you think you might have a goodie and then you get this junk. There seem to be a lot of them lately.
The car wash token is for the RED TOP SERVICE CENTER. No idea where it is located. Definitely not from around here.
The ring is marked 925 and has czs in it. The earring is also marked 925 so 2 silvers for the day.
The winner for the day was this necklace. It is 14k and weighs 12.7 grams or 0.41 troy ounces. At today’s prices the local jeweler would pay $850 scrap value for it. I was hoping for a goodie and this one hits it out of the park. It is a different type design and my wife likes it so she gets it. She doesn’t mind my detecting because she gets her pick of the jewelry I find so she’s happy and I’m happy.
DAY 3
I had a little time so I went back to the park nearest my home. It’s been covered pretty well over the years but I haven’t covered every inch and so I expect new losses and hope for an oldie that I might have missed. All you can do is hope for the best and some luck.
I spent 3.5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 53 coins with a face value of $3.96, an underwear fastener, a tiny buckle piece (modern), a hat pin back, a SUPER STUDENT AWARD, a painted tab, 2 bullets, 9 key charms, a little foil, can slaw (they keep replenishing that all the time dang it) and 7 tabs.
The first bullet is a pistol bullet with red polymer in the tip. It’s in great shape. The second one is a fired shotgun slug also known as a pumpkin ball. Often used to hunt deer in areas where rifles are not allowed. They don’t travel as far as a rifle slug and break up easily if they hit anything like small trees and heavy bushes.
Nothing great, the underwear fastener is an oldie, but not a goodie. The key charms keep popping up. A few years ago somebody spilled over a hundred of the silly things around the tot lot. By now I’ve found most of them I think, but who knows.
NON DETECTOR FINDS
I did find 2 pennies in the coinstar machine and a quarter in a vending machine coin return. Nothing great, but it does add up. Of course the way it is going it will take a long time to add up to a decent amount.LOL
I also got a wheatie in change. It is really crud covered, but you can see enough of the date to tell it is probably ka 1947.
A really nice gold chain this week, a case of right place right time. The big ones don’t pop up that often so that makes this a special week. The weather is cooling off, but I’ll be going away with no detector so no goodies for me for awhile. Thanks for looking, stay safe, good luck and may your coil lead you to good things.
