2 Interesting Fakes in my World Coin Lot

At least I'm assuming they're fake, since I can't imagine anyone in their right mind would let something like this slip by them, haha.

Can anyone tell me what they're supposed to be imitations of?

Top: Charles 3, Globes & Pillars, 8 reales. I don't know them very well, but I think that's a Mexico City mint mark, "M" with a little "o" over it.

How can you own them, but don't know what they are? Help me out on this please.

Well, like the thread title says, I got them in a random lot of world coins.

Oh I got you now. I didn't know what "World Coin Lot" meant earlier.

Weigh that 8R and let us know it's exact weight in grams... fakes won't weigh correctly. Does the edge have a mold seam? If you drop it on a hard surface it should have that silver ring to it.

The coin looks pretty good in the pics, but I am an amateur. I hope it's a real reale!

I used to purchase world coin lots when I was younger. I think they came from banks that would aggregate and then liquidate the random non-US coins and they came in 5 or 10lb bags. It was tons of fun sorting through them and sometimes you'd get the odd older coin or silver, but you'd also get modern reproductions and tokens too.

I have a feeling that at least your pillar dollar is real (not just reale, LOL). Can you show us a good pic of its side-on edge?

I could be wrong but I can usually spot the fakes really quick, and something just says NOT FAKE. The color would be right for an oxidized silver coin too. don't clean it.

if legit you got a winner --if cast (a fake) there is likely a seam type split (line) going around the rim edge .... hope you just got a good bag

Yeah, I think I see the line. It's alright, I didn't think they'd be real anyways. At least I know what a reale looks like now if I'm ever somewhere where I might dig one, haha.

Yeah, that looks like a cast seem edge to me too. All may not be lost, test it for silver. Lots of fakes have been made from real silver.

Haha, maybe. I wasn't planning to get rid of them anyway, since real or fake, they're still interesting to me.

You wouldn't happen to know what the second one is a fake of, would you?

Nope. Take it out the packet & put the letters around the edge into google. All I can tell is its too grainy to be a struck coin. It hard to explain but when you have handled 1000s of hammered coins you see the difference straight away.
