2 of my better finds today

beautiful day here in the east to metal detecting so i went to a friends house down the street out in the middle of nowhere in a soybean field.found the huge silver clip about 7 inches down and the turner and dickerson naval button about 4 inches down.i believe the button dates between 1790-1800.

Nice finds.  Don't know anything about the button, except that it's pretty.

The piece of coin appears to be Spanish.  I could be wrong, but no matter.  It's a nice find.  Now go back and find the rest of it.

What you have there is a old cut spanish silver piece of eight..Great find and a old navy button..That would be 2 reales..1/4 of a 8 reale..Go back and find some more.. You should change the post to spanish cut coin ,found.. This is what the coin would look like whole..

2 bits -- or a "quarter" of a spanish 8 reale --- FM is the assyers mark --- think FM mark was from the mexico city mint -- if memory serves ne correctly --- ps the mint asseyer could help "rough" time frame the coin --as the asseyers changed so did "the mark"
