Back to my spot on St-Lawrence in Quebec.

Continued to follow the shore as the water is still getting lower. No doubt in my mind that there must have been some activity on that spot as lots of pottery and clay pipes pieces are laying on the ground. Found a few half penny sized tokens mostly from 1770's One Hibernia type seems to be cut in half on purpose (which would make it a 1/4 penny I guess). An other Half penny size coin seems to have either IS or 15 counter struck on it. Found an absolutely massive 18 pounder cannonball (had a really hard time getting it out of the water and carrying to the highway) and a beautiful old buckle broken in three pieces, glad to have found all of them.

But the find of the day was this silver coin which I believe to be a double struck 2 Real (around 28 mm). I don't know the date but it's very thin almost like a hammered (maybe from use). Would really appreciate your comments especially on those 3 unusual pieces - 2 halfpenny's and the Real.

Thanks.

That is one awesome coin, never seen one struck like that, but it looks like an early real.

Now that you got all those pesky coins out if the way you should have some more nice buttons next trip!
I like counterstamped coins, yours is a nice one
One cannonball at a time if you're finding big ones like that one ,no fun dragging those things around

Yes, pesky coins...lol I prefer them any day to the iron ridden field!

WOW!! Great coin finds! Spanish silver is awesome, I'll be checking this post to see what information the experts post.
Congrats and HH

Very interesting double struck Real, congratulations on the find!

Excellent finds. The wear pattern on the Irish KG is strange. Looks smoked on the bottom but near mint on the top.

Thanks!
It was in the water. I'm wondering if it's not from the sand rubbing against it over the centuries.

Yes, the coins are fabulous...but I love the buckle!! Such a pretty pattern. Congrats! -Lisa
