I also went through a series of shock treatments, it helped a lot and I probably should have gone back for more. HH, Mike
Yea, me too Mike but just thinking of the pain (well I still can't describe the pain, its not steady, just with every jolt and not on the surface but inside your heel, but bearable if you sort of cry. By the place I went they don't numb the place first, like they do someother places) makes me want to live without it. I could bear the pain pretty good, but others had big problems.
But like you said, it sure helped!
just a thought woody, did you detect so fast before the shock treatment in your heels?
if it mean't i could find stuff like you i could handle the pain!
i want supercharged heels
YOU WILL find stuff like me, maybe it might take you longer to find it, but you will if you keep digging every sound and get to know your detector and your ears. Stay if possible with one detector. I take on the average one year before I know what a detector can do...
Detecting fast, well not really, its just grown over the years, I guess you might call it experience, and knowledge of my detector. The longer you search (me since 87) and the better you know your detector, the more finds you will find. They, or the most of them, will not be great finds, but finds in any case. The great thing to think is then say the average silver to copper coin ratio is 55 to 1 (just taking an example). You will find 56 finds and one will be silver. Now, if you find the 56 finds in say 2 hours, and you search for three hours you should have 3 silver ones. Just an example.
I try to 'make many meters', many many meters. Then I know what the detector is saying and leave only what he is defintive about not being anything important (most the time small iron, big or middle sized iron I usually dig - I have found some nice iron things that way).
But when you find a hot spot, say in a large field, two roman coins in a small area, I slow down to a crawl or slower and check out in ever increasing circles the signals. If I find nothing I move on, otherwise I spend even more time there. The guys that I search with are always looking at me when I slow down, they know something is up, and most of the time I see them sort of moving to me...
Another thing I don't do is look at what I have found. If I think is something nice it goes into a separate compartment of my pouch, and I continue. I want to use every minute that I get to search (yes I am married) to the fullest. At the end of the day I look. Of course if I ID something exceptional I do stay in that area, but just give the object a once over (20 seconds or something like that)
But everyone has to find their own way of doing it of course....
