Took a chance today and ventured out to detect along the sidewalks in a particular older neighborhood. Found two Rosies and a whopping 23 Wheaties. Found a 1920, 1929-s, 35, 37 and the rest through 58. Even found 4 1959's. 16 clad quarters, 30 clad dimes, 9 nickels, and another 119 copper pennies. Add to that 9 Canadian pennies, two being 1949. At a nearby elementary school I found this cool 1915 Panama-Pacific Medallion from the International expo in SF, it was at least 10 inches deep. I must say, the neighbors didn't seem to mind me plodding along the sidewalk strip as most of the homes looked as though they don't maintain that part of the property anyway. I have been scouting out additional streets and it looks like I'll be busy for sometime. Funny thing that happened was after I left one area, I drove past it later only to find someone else detecting right where I was at! Copy cat! Happy hunting!

Your "medallion" is a watch fob. The slot at the top is the give away. The wrist watch took over after WW1, and the watch fob disappeared from the scene.

Very nice find. I really like fobs, but have only found two so far. Well played!

I like those old watch fobs they are very cool items to find. I have been searching along sidewalk strips for many years and you won't regret this type of searching. If I am right the area between the sidewalk and the street is actually city maintenence owned
