My dad found these last Friday.

Ihp with a square hole through it. And a war relic, what war/period.
Thanks in advance guys. 1515429152841.webp1515429172720.webp

I'd say WW1 collar insignia? The square hole in the cent, hard to say, maybe some one needed a washer? I've been tempted myself when washers are 3 cents a piece!

I think your war relic is a US WW2 Infantry Collar Disk.

The penny looks to have been poked with a square nail. To make a washer/keeper etc.

Yeah, my dad said he had heard of people nailing pennies to their steps for some superstitious reason. Don't know if it holds water lol..

Won't hold water, it has a hole in it.

I'll show myself out now, don't get up...

Every time I have renovated a house, or built a new one, or a deck or porch or shed, I nailed a new penny to a stud, rafter or floor joist and write my name by it. Just a way to say "I was here" to whoever comes along years later
