This object came out of the ground twisted like a pretzel. I noticed the one spike. Since the metal is thin I was able to unfold the piece gently.

This appears to be a buckle but since it is thin and measures no more than one inch wide by two inches long, could it be a knee buckle?

Calling on the help of those who've dug older buckles for a more detailed ID.

Thanks much!

I think this one is modern. The metal is way too thin and the prong is wrong for an early buckle. Here is one type of early buckle, I got this one in November, it's 3rd quarter 17th century. Cast brass or bronze. View attachment IMG_0538.jpg It's the only pic I have of one at the moment.

Nice buckle- and great job bending it back- would of been in 3 pieces if I had done it! I agree, never found an old buckle that thin
