From 20 rolls of nickels ($40), they produced a 1928 buffalo nickel and a 1942P War nickel(Mintmark is above the Monticello on the back for those who don't know what a war nickel is)
I was kind of surprised to find the war nickel because I have already found a buffalo nickel in the previous few rolls. In 1942, the mint made both silver and non-silver nickels. When metal was greatly needed for the war, they made the nickels containing 35% silver (later in 1942).
Plus the war nickel(1942p) has a relatively low mintage compared to the other war nickels produced.
If you were guaranteed a war nickel in a roll of nickels, chances are it would be a more common date like 1943p, but getting a 1942p war nickel I would consider lucky due to the fact that production of that specific year and mint is significantly lower.
Still have $60 in nickels to open, will post results of full box when I open all rolls.
