OK, when I heard on the local news back in 2000 that the newly minted Massachusetts quarter had doubling, I looked at at them at the time, and saved a couple. I forgot about it until today, when I looked and got this in change. Is this a DD MA quarter? R

It is doubling but, not the right kind. That is machine doubling caused by movement between the planchet and the die during striking.
