50 CWR from bank today, crazy regs

I went to the bank today to pick up 50 CWR of Quarters. They said they had to count every one before they could give them to me. It took them over 30 minutes. They also said they would not give out any more CWR as it is too much trouble.
I told them I was willing to sign something saying if they were short I accepted it but they said no they had to could them. They then found they were 1 short in 50 rolls but I said ok I accept it. What would the difference between just giving them to me...

I had them dump each roll into a 5 gallon bucket that I took home. I watched them count them so I could see if there was silver and they kept it, but they counted and dropped into the bucket roll after roll.

When I got home it was fast to look for silver. Later I will check for "W" mint marks.

I found a 1968 Canadian Quarter which my research says the 1967-1968 quarters were 50% silver, will check at the LCS.

I finally about 2/3's of the way through found a well worn 1938 D quarter. so not a total skunk.

I am trying to find a really strong magnet, I tried it with several refrigerator magnets, my BBQ thermometer magnet and a magnetic ham/cb radio antenna magnet and it doesn't stick or even react to any of those. I do have a really strong one in the garage but I try to stay away from it due to now having a pacemaker.

But I would say it is non-magnetic so that is good right?

My bank never checks anything or even opens the boxes.
I could replace all the coins with washers and they wouldnt know.

tried to buy washers lately? I drill coins and use them for washers.

A "strong" magnet shouldn't be needed, it should stick to any magnet if it is 99.9 nickel and it should not if it is 50% silver. Also most silver Canadian 1968s will have the whitish silver hue as opposed to the grey hue of nickel.

Sounds like a paranoid bank manager. Scared an extra quarter will slip through. A big waste of labor on the payroll and poor customer service. I would be looking to find a new bank.

You can tell the silver from the non silver 1968 Canadian quarters by looking at them. They look quite different from each other.

My banks just let me buy the rolls, bags, or boxes. I always tell them that its ok if they are short, its no big deal.
