More accurately, casino hunting finds. Another pretty good year with some ups and downs. On to the totals!



***PENNIES***

Indians: 1900 (2), 1901, 1902

Wheaties: 520 (72 of the possible 140 dates)

Oldest and lowest mintage ---> 1910-S

vs. 2007: Clobbered last year's wheat total of 142


***NICKELS***

Buffalos (10): 1913-S (Mound Type), 1914, 1917-S, 1919, 1920, 1926-S, 1927, 1928, 1937 (2)

Wartime nickels (39): 1942-P (3), 1942-S (3), 1943-P (10), 1943-S [8], 1944-P (3), 1944-D (2), 1944-S (1), 1945-P (3), 1945-D (1), 1945-S (5)

Proof: 1988-S, 2001-S

The entire Jefferson series except 1938-S, 1939-D, 1943-D, 1949-S, 1950-D

Finished rolls: 1942-D, 1945-P, 1948-S

vs. 2007: Not only doubled last year's buffalo total but set a new record for one year. War nickels eclipsed last year's 35 as well.


***DIMES***

Didn't do any searching this year but found two silvers "in the wild": 1945-D Merc (Coinstar) and a 1963-D Roosie in pocket change.

vs. 2007: Didn't match last year's four silvers


***QUARTERS***

Poor results as usual but the slots did cough up one silver ---> 1964

vs. 2007: Not even close to last year's five silvers. Gotta hit quarters better in 2009.


***HALVES***

Bens: 1952-D (2), 1953-S, 1958-D, 1963-D

90% JFK: 15

40% JFK: 296

vs. 2007:

Bens: Came close to last year's eight.

90% JFK: Last year's record 28 is a tough mark to beat

40% JFK: Came up over 100 short of last year's 401

Nah. Finding a bank with less than 15 people in line is a real chore. If I walk by a Wells Fargo in a grocery store that has no one in line I'll ask for halves, but that's pretty rare. Plus no free coin counters in the area is a bummer.

That is a great collection! I don't understand how you found the coins. Were they all CRH finds from coin rolls at a casino? How about the Indian heads, same way?

Basically, it goes like this:

Step 1: Put $$ bills in casino slot machine (halves, quarters, nickels, even pennies)
Step 2: Immediately cash out
Step 3: Search while sitting at the machine (or bring the stash home for closer inspection)
Step 4: Return rejects to cashier cage and repeat process...

Everything in my list was found in a Vegas slot machine, and this was a down year in general.
