2008 North American International Auto Show - Detroit- over 30 Photos

Hello all from the frozen tundra of Michigan

I work for a company that supplies the A/C and Heater tubes and hoses to the car companies. We have many customers and in fact, our company, in which we are one subsidiary of, is the largest rubber producing company in the world (by sales $). Anyway, today it was mine and 3 of my co-workers duty to attend the "Industry Preview", which is basically supplier day where the suppliers like us get to go into the auto show and look at all the cars prior to the show opening to the public on Saturday. It was a work day and we worked hard (but we had fun too) as we were tasked to go in and benchmark/document with photos and a written synopsis every vehicle's A/C lines looking for what our competitors and the rest industry (our non customers) are doing different from us.

While I was there, I also brought my personal camera and took pictures of all the cool cars I could get. I will share those here.

Maybe you have seen the Smart on TV... on the Nintendo Wii ads.

They also had one cut away everywhere showing all the safely features.
It has actually passed crash testing in the US.


There were these cool looking little cars from China, more like golf cart size really. The far one is called the Detroit Fish and is an anfibious vehicle that seats 4. It has a propeller on back. Sorry, my close up didn't turn out.


This one is named "The Book Of Songs"


and this one "A Piece of Cloud" .
Someone needs to tell them, in the US, any car with the name "A Piece Of..." will not really work too well


Finally, I had to include this. The Toyota Tundra. They has the coolest commercials on TV huh. Well, the big load of iron in the back of this truck is actually very well disguised wood. I thought that was funny.

Thank you for the pics...VERY cool! I love cars and I'm a huge racing fan. My main love is NASCAR but I do still watch Formula 1, Indy Cars...pretty much if it has an engine and they race it, I like it!
