2016 new Halves?

Just went through my 4 boxes of halves, only found 2 40% coins out of all those but a large amount of new 2016 coins. Why on earth are they making these coins when nobody uses these in normal everyday spending? Seems like a waste of money to make these coins.

collectors buy them from the Mint and search for the BEST grades, then turn the rest in for face value..

If they have no fingerprints, you can probably roll them up and get good money for them at a coin show.

Just save them for 90 years, will be worth 2.5x face by then !

They also keep making them because it's the law. That's why they are NIFC now.

I picked up a box of halves this weekend that had a total of thirty 2017 halves, mixed P and D. Kept the best two for my collection and set the rest free.
