I've been detecting for Civil War relics for the last eight years and 2018 was my best year ever, maybe not in the total number of relics but the variety and quality were unmatched in previous years.

I found over 200 bullets including a CSA slug ball, a couple of Wilkinsons, and a beautiful bullet in wood piece....a bayonet, a scabbard throat, a fuse adapter, and 20+ friction primers. I didn't find many buttons, but three were Confederate and I couldn't be happier ....and certainly the highlight was finding three belt plates....a large US, a small(one arrow hook) US, and the CS(my first and only Banner Find).

I wish everyone the best for 2019 and keep posting those great finds!

Looks like a great year to me!

They're my favorite too!!!! Congratulations :occasion14:

I can see why this was your best year ever. You have a nice variety of CW artifacts. The ball in the wood is a cool one. I have found a lot of bullets and a few buttons, but am still looking for the belt or box plate. Congratulations on a good year.

Keep swingin and make 2019 even better!

I will vote too on one Great Year Relic Hunting. 2018 was very good to you JB. It will be hard to do better this year, but I wish you continued success. The best way I could explain your relic finds would be to compare these to the old Marine Corps recruiting posters. "Quality, Not Quantity". Lol You have some very nice finds there for sure that any Relic Hunter would be proud to have in their collection. The Rectangular CS Confetrit' Plate is over the top. All great relics. I like the bullet in the wood also. I found a bullet in a small piece of wood years ago and was thrilled as I'm sure you were also. These will all look great in your display. Well Done on saving some Great pieces of CW History. These relics as all relics found tell a small story in a great chapter of our American History and the American Civil War, or the War Between the States, or the War of Northern Aggression. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Great collection of history you’be found.Congrats.:icon_thumright:
