I've deer hunted near. Well, near enough Scottville. Frogged around the old and new hatchery. Spied on some steelie's below...

Gotta wonder who had gold around there during the great depression era though...Or who would have hauled much of anything that direction.(?)

Population was declining as folks drifted towards industrial jobs elsewhere.
Prior lumber baron money? Not very likely..
Bootlegging money? That would have brought the Government boys in...
Mafia activity? Little mention , but that means...Well, little.
A town on the decline could have offered real estate bargains and some privacy.

Thanks guys! My procedure is to photo dowse first, if something repeatable comes up I will let you know. Then I figure out who currently owns the land. I'm not going up by myself. There's some mysterious things in the story, as usual, lol

Jon, they mention a rail fence and house as landmarks. Check the property lines in-case the G was put under a fence post.
