So i have decided that instead of picking up 2 boxes/week from a bank, i would only stop by once a month, and pick up 8 boxes in one shot. I am usually pretty chatty with all of the tellers in different banks, trying to feel them out. I like to see if they are friendly and dont mind switching out bags, or if they hate their lives, and that i inconvenience them by dumping coins, so they have to take time away from playing on the computer to have to help me.

Any who, i asked the tellers if the Coin Delivery person was pissed that she had to drop off 8 boxes. The tellers told me that they spoke to the coin service driver, and she said that at one of the branches someone order 25 boxes at a time. I do not know which bank this is, but this is in the South Jersey area.

Are you out there, the 25 boxes/time guy?

I am thoroughly impressed.

I did 24 boxes this week i will only get 2 at a time!!!!! That better then making waves. I want to do this for a long time. And dump where i can"t get them.. Good luck

I've done 25 boxes in one day but that was picking up, dumping, and picking more up across multiple banks in a long day.

I personally wouldn't want to pickup 25 boxes in one shot....talk about attracting major attention, especially if its a weekly thing, thieves look for patterns to exploit.

I usually get 2-3k per pickup stop so they don't get overwhelmed in the vault, with the exception of one huge branch that I will get 3-5k at a time. 5k is about the limit for the cart and I don't want to make more than one trip in & out either.

But hey as long as the bank is on board with it and said person feels safe enough (packs some heat) there are no rules that say you can't! Except the unwritten rule of "Don't piss off the wife!!"

;D

Yes that was me....
25 in one arm and 25 in the other :tongue1: ;D

This could explain all the skunk boxes I have been getting... :(

I have very cool tellers...but they told me that the delivery guy was complaining about my 4 boxes a week.

i don't want to sound rude--- the delivery guy is being payed to lug coins in and out of the bank-- the teller isn't.

I would be more concerned about the teller's health and saftey before the delivery guy's.

This is my 2 wheat cents, come on in bull dogs, bite at my post!!! :laughing9:

**I order a max of 4-6 boxes a month of halves**

If a teller ask what you do with all the coins you get on a weekly basis, how to you reply?

Tell the truth..you collect coins.. But never use the S word.
Or say you're trying to fill up your pool with halves before summer! :icon_thumright:

Impressed?????????????? Who has the time to look through that many boxes???? I do 2 a week and have to find time to look at them. It is a hobby, not a lifestyle.

Yes. i am definitely impressed. I am impressed that the person has that type of cash to get 25 boxes at once. I am impressed that the bank will actually order 25 boxes, as i am sure they take a hit on fees paid to Garda or Brinks or whoever, and i am impressed that the person will look through 25 boxes. It being a hobby has nothing to do with how many boxes you do. If my bank told me that they would order me 25 boxes, i wouldnt tell them "sorry, this is a hobby, i only like finding 4 silver halves a instead of 40"

I did a reasonable amount of research on setting up a cash vault services account with a bank and contracting with Brinks/loomis/Dunbar to go 'hardcore' with CRH and then my wife 'convinced me' :argue: that I was being a little too enthusiastic about my new 'hobby'! :laughing7:

Most delivery service contracts allow 5 $1,000 dollar bags with no additional delivery fees. The charges can really add up though: $110-185 month for basic contract (everyone does 1 year minimum unless you are paying out the *#$ for a single pickup/delivery) with one pickup/delivery per week, fuel surcharge of 5-9% of invoice amount, $1 dollar per minute over 5 spent at delivery/pickup location, $3.5 to $5 per bag for processing (depending on wether it is single denomination/full or mixed/non-standard amount), taxes, cost of bags, etc.!

Got 5 bags straight from the Fed today (canvas, sewn shut) packaged in '09. I used to think the 'packing' date meant something, but over 38 bags I've determined it doesn't mean squat (at least based on my data)...rationally. My 'dreamer' side still get excited when I see the older dates. I'd really like to pick up 5 bags packed in 1963 though!!!! :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:
