The weather was great here in Va. today. I was out "ALL" day and will have to say I've never dug so many buttons in one day! 27-buttons total plus 5-button backs. I ended up with a vermont cuff button, three eagle infantry and one eagle rifleman button, The rest were standard eagle buttons. I also dug a few confederate bullets and a candle holder. Anyway, I'm ready to collapse so I'm headed to bed...Hope you enjoy the pictures!!!

WTG Todd. Great relics. I believe you have become very proficient with that T.D.I. HH, Quindy.

You definitely had a fun and great day!

Wow that is a great day. It's been a long time since I've found that many buttons in one day. In the second pic. Has the skirt been cut off the Garder or was it not pressed down? When the Gardners were made the skirts were out to the side. The bullet was put nose down in a press. The cartridge and insert were pushed into the base of the Gardner. The press forced the bullet though the hole bending the skirt and forcing it against the inset. This held the cartridge. The bullet fell into a box and when the box was full powder was put in the cartridges. I've only ever seen one or two that were not pressed that somehow got into the field and were discarded. If it hasn't been pressed it should be worth a good bit more than one that has.

Great day in the field! We found a spot like that down here in Murfreesboro TN, was a creek or stream close by? Or a old home stead?

We thought that they may have been someone that washed the troops cloths in our area. Just wondering. By the way.. we never found that many in one day..great job!!

I'd say you must have been really excited digging up that many buttons. I've only dug 3 here in Ohio. That must have been the spot of a lot of action ??? And I bet there is more to be found. :headbang:

Now that is one fantastic hunt. Nice recovery. That is the most buttons I have seen found in one hunt in a long time. Great job.

I am tell you went on a protected battlefield for these. Nice finds, I am in Central Virginia if you ever want to go on a hunt.

That is AWESOME TODD!!! Those TDI's are the BEST THING in Northern Virginia! I have

PERSONALLY seen how much better they are than the regular VLF machines like the F-75, MXT,

Etc. This is just another testament to that! That is a STELLAR STELLAR DAY my friend!!! WOW

And you got an Eagle "R" in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wav: :wav:
