Got out for a short hunt yesterday morning before the rain moved into the Northeast area, found this about 5 inch's down . At first I seen it was just a shell , But after I cleaned the dirt off I actually "Laughed Out Loud" thinking Dang this has to be a Banner Find as I have seen others post their Pipe find's??? LOL It cleaned up Nice and the bowl part is a Cal. smaller than the .270 but I think it's very crafty and def. a Keeper :) I Know it is Only a Banner Find in My Own mind ... Peace 20131.webp

Ingenious. You have to give them credit for their resourcefulness. Probably a prepper pipe.

The Bowl part is a smaller Cal. Cut off at the top facing down into the pipe stem. Nice round hole looks drilled out...p.s. 'It works well' LOL

About the age of the pipe... The .270 Winchester was has been produced since 1925 and Federal Cartridge Company was founded in 1922 so the pipe could have been made any time in the last 89 years. The .270 Winchester is a .30-06 cartridge necked down to accept a smaller .277 caliber bullet allowing higher velocities and a flatter trajectory. The bowl might be made from a .243 caliber case.

Thanks for the info ... A Friend of mine bought the property that I found this item from a Vietnam era Veteran , My Friend remembers this Guys Story about being in the Air Force and Guarding a Loaded B52 that held a Nuke's during the early 1970's ...
