2nd attempt finds more CW bullets & a few whatsits

After work today I went back to the spot where I found the CW bullets and arrowhead the other day. They have cleared all the way down to the stream now, so there is a lot more area for me to cover. There will be two more large sections cut out through the woods once they have this section fully cleared, so I'm sure there will be more goodies to be had. I've gotten to know the crew there, and they love seeing what I find. I waited until they called it quits for the day, and then detected about 90 minutes. That's all I could stand in the heat, and also having gnats constantly buzzing my ears & eyes. What is with those d-mn things!!! I don't know how many time I smacked myself with my shovel & towel trying to shoo them away. ;D
I did pretty good again today, finding more bullets & a few items I could use some help IDing.
I'm really happy with the variety of bullets I've found at this spot these last two hunts.

*Any info on the bullets & whatsits would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking,
MM

I don't know much about the bullets. But I know they are nice finds!
I guess you know that the square thing is part of an Harmonica reed.

Thanks rtde3.
Yeah, I still love finding these bullets just for the history behind them. As far as the harmonica reed piece, I find them a lot but have only found one complete one so far.

Nice digs MM. You have been kickin' some civil war buttocks lately

Thanks Bryce. I am fortunate enough to work extremely close to this construction area so I can keep an eye on the progress every day.
I'm glad I hit a bit of a hot spot here.

Nice finds,

Hate them damn nats and flies. They have chased me out of some sites this yr. They are getting worse and bigger every yr.

HH Jer

Thanks Jer. One of those bug proof mess safari hats has crossed my mind lately. Those critters are rough!

You are a LEAD MAGNET ...
I know lead will not stick to magnets but you are the exception to the rule ... :tongue3:
ROCK ON ~ Nick

Thanks Buddy. When did I go from Chick magnet to lead magnet? Must have been within this last 20 years. :icon_scratch: :tongue3:
Now if I could just become an old coin magnet.

Doug, you're going to have some collection of bullets once your hunts at that construction area come to an end.
Nice Job!!

PS - Yes, those flies/gnats are terrible in some of my turf areas over here too. I have to wear sunglasses, because if I don't they like to fly right into my eyes. :-\

Thanks Big Dan.
Here's a picture of my lead so far. Not as impressive as some of my Virginia neighbors above me, but she's a growin' slowly.
As far as those gnats out there in Calif, you are so close to Mexico I believe those would get called a ............................
Spanish Fly. :icon_scratch: ::) :tongue3:
Good luck this week,
Doug

Folks, for gnats and flies I have had good luck with Avon Skin so Soft. Some swear by it and some say it doesn't work.

Thanks duggap.
One question though. How do you apply the Skin so Soft to their little legs? :tongue3: :tard: ;D
Just kidding. I've heard that product works well, but I've never tried it. Has to be safer than spraying deet around my eyes though. :o :'(

Doug Dude, you have been doing veeeeery well on Civil War buttons recently. That site is yielding you some nice keepers.

Here's to finding many more three-ringers and other Civil War relics there, Doug! :occasion14:
Kyle

Thanks Kyle.
Where in the heck are the coins? Didn't the Indians or CW soldiers carry them? :icon_scratch: I thought Indians had IH pennies or wooden nickels at least? It has been an interesting spot finding both Indian artifacts and CW relics too. I love it!!!
I still need an LC before the years over and an 1800's silver to meet my goal for 08'. I'm not giving up.
-Doug-

Don't worry, Doug Dude, if those North Carolina pioneers dropped some coins, they will be cut pistareens and Spanish cobs. We, here in PA, have to settle for those corroded coppas. :D

Now, get out there and find us another "piece of eight."
Kyle

Kyle,
I'm hoping the rest of this construction project will uncover a few old coins as they scrap away a lot of this top cover (pine straw, mulch, etc.).
All of my finds have been in a light sandy type compressed soil under the top cover. Come on WILVER!!!! ;D
Keep the passion high and keep your bro next to an open window or barf bag. :tongue3:
