Posted a video of the finds so far from these fields. BEWARE MY WIFES POTTY MOUTH (F-BOMB) AROUND THE 1:35 AREA. Poor thing was sick of digging big iron. lol. But she was rewarded with the half.

This site has been stingy but finally got a sliver of silver from this very old dwelling plantation site to confirm the era. We dug at least 100 lead balls of varying calibers here. Yet only a dozen and a half buttons and maybe another couple dozen other relics. A newer homesite on the other end of the large field produced some modern silver. My wife scored a Franklin half there. I concentrated on the old site today with 18Khz freq. Lower freq will not penetrate the soil - even 12 just gives crackles on anything more than a few inches deep. VERY harsh soil conditions here. I even went into the expert section of the freq and bumped it up as far as it would go.

Oxbowbarefoot nailed the ID. Its a pine tree, NOE 2. Thats terrific, thank you. The 6 is visible and I can see some very faint branches. Here's the whole coin below.

Whoa yeah! All you need now is a couple of lobstas and a Wachusett beer and you got yourself a New England ho-down. Amazing cut silver and that buckle is right in that time period as well. Nice blowhole button - I've never found one.
Congrats on a killer hunt!
Took the wife out for dinner. We settled with Chesapeake Bay crabs and Heinekens (and Pinot Grigio) lol

Congrats. I have been waiting to see something like this coming from you.
Nice buttons and neat old pile of relics, but that silver is amazing, and so tiny.
I have always been impressed with the large coins, but lately ive been more impressed with the tiny stuff.
Keep up the good work, you got my vote.
Wish our state had its own coins minted.
Would be really cool if you could find the rest of it.
mmmmm. blue crabs... Just had a shrimp po-boy for dinner.

IP,

Any idea as to the value of the cut silver pieces?

Regards + HH

Bill

If it's gonna be cut, it might as well be mass silver! Feel free to make yourself a T-shirt with that on it... I'll give you a discount. :)

I could have confirmed the age because basically everything in the relics pic is too old to dig at my sites.

I dug a cut Mass silver a few years ago and was offered $2000 by a collector up north. But it's still sitting in my display .....

Great find by the way, I'll try to get a variety id for you in the morning.

Gary - glad to see you're back out again and adding to your silver collection. Love that cut Mass - great job!! Wish I could get out but no places to go around here. Almost all of the old or new sites we'd like to get into still have beans in the field, and unfortunately as soon as they get cut wheat's going back in. And deer season starts tomorrow. Gonna be a rough season the way its looking.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, BANNER!!!

This is absolutely a banner find. Congrats!

Very nice Mass silver....those relics are awesome finds too...Congrats

And yes guys this is for sure a Banner find! He didn't get it for his last beautiful piece of Mass silver. So let's get this bad boy up top where it belongs. How often do we see a piece of Mass silver posted. Glad to see knocking down the oldies again brother

Ugh oh you got Abe cranked-up on Mass silver!!

Oh I can't wait to get home. I've been researching like crazy and think I have a new 1600s site lined up that just may be the one. Or the spoons site. I tell ya I could smell the Mass silver in that dirt. I love seeing these coins

We all know the Mass silver is a great find - congrats.

What jumped out to me as odd was the the 'clock hand shaped' leather decor. Although broken at 1 end so we are unsure on its true shape, its a type I've never seen. The rest are very familar to me.

Regarding that spoon site. I have a chainsaw and a boat (Boston Whaler), strong arms, and some vacation days....Abe ol pal! Lol

Damn shame you have no detector! So looks like I'm the guy Abe.

Gary - I'll be passing through your area on Mon and Fri next week, but probably won't have time to stop and try to find the rest of your coin :laughing7:. Good luck!

Amazing assortment of finds. The cut piece is one unusual dig.

I think the variety is a NOE 2, Large Planchet Pine Tree Shilling, Rarity 4.

That is amazing to me. YOU NAILED IT. With a glass I can faintly discern some branches on the pine tree. I can't believe these little pieces have so much value. Got it on video too and will get that up shortly. Thanks a lot.
