Went to St. Pete Beach with family for a one night stay and got in a little hunt time. Went in the water and first target was a deep crusty penny. Next target was a double beeping mid tone that sounded so good I was scooping in fast motion. Looked in the scoop and couldnt believe I had a gold ring that fast. That's the quickest Ive ever found gold. I walked out of the water and told my wife the motel was paid for. The ring wasn't marked but it looks like someone had it sized, so they may have cut the mark out. It acid tested for 14k and is 4 grams. Its the only piece of jewelry I found, so I got real lucky. This was the first time Ive been able to water hunt since I found the lions head ring. Good luck to everyone.

WTG lookindown: Out of curiosity, I have looked over my records and found the following trends:

1) Most finds of valuable items occurred early in the hunt. This makes sense as I hunt the highest probability areas to find gold first and my ears are fresh.

2) Most of my finds were in the water, which makes sense as that is where I spend the most time. Unfortunately, most of these finds were junk rings.

3) The surprise was that my find of valuable items was evenly spread over dry sand, wet sand, at the surfs edge near rocks, and in the shallow water.
which goes to show gold is where you find it, not where you want it to be.

Most of my gold rings come late in my hunts and most of my hunts are 7 to 10 hours. I almost never get a gold ring early. Ive tried to figure out why but haven't come up with a good reason yet. I spend 95% of my time in the water.

Nice ring! I bet you were excited about the lead fishing weights as well. That looks like a solid 20 cents there. ;)

Ones a 4oz and ones a 6oz. They were hooked together. Who would need 10ozs of weight? Probably broke their line trying to reel the weight in. :tongue3:
