Made of granite, raised ridge, ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1574099292.971769.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1574099304.936638.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1574099315.287074.webpfluted on both bottom and top. 12.5” in length and is relatively thin. Just a beautifully made axe.

See how the maker put a slight camber in the hafting groove?
Gives the axe a better cut - a "slicing"-like strike, making wood cutting more efficient, less tiring...!
 

I think I would drop dead in my tracks if I walked up on that piece. That's a beauty.
 

Some of these bigger axes I have posted don’t have a nick on them. I would bet they were picked up in the 1800s when farmers used the 24” mouldboard. To find one like that in my old fields would be next to impossible because of the machinery they use.
