I purchased a 3hz one with my x70 and it was bad sent it in to Sandy and got a new one back in 10 days from minelab on friday, finally took it out and wow... I have hit this 60's home place very hard, but there is so much trash that it gets old not finding the good stuff. Well went last night and found 11 pennies(memorials) several were over 7 in. Hey, finding the mems. means that it is getting around the trash...I really like it.. I did find a whatsit.. I'll try and post tomorrow...Gh

I'm hearing some good things about the X70. Many are saying it's great on gold but Minelab doesn't define this series as being designed for the glitter stuff.

The other great coil for getting past the trash is the 6" 18.75 DD. I got permission to hunt this early 50's Motor Court. I was using the stock coil and there was so much trash that I had to clean out a small area just to ground balance. I ordered the 6" DD coil and hit the same place again. Major difference. I was finding coins from the 40's and 50's and easily identifying the trash. With the larger coil, I was getting at least 3 things at one time under the coil. The narrow pattern of the DD coil really helps the machine look at one item at a time. My deepest find was a wheatie at 6+ inches. It gave a very sharp signal. I'm sure it would have detected it far deeper. Give the 6 incher a try also. You will quickly make it your coil of choice in the trashy areas. The only problem is that after reading your post, I'm going to have to buy a 3khz coil just to see what it will do. That and the 10.5 DD coil. If Minelab keeps making new coils for the X-Terra, I'm going to go broke or start selling some of my finds to pay for my equipment.

I got the 10.5 7.5 kHz DD and absolutely love it. Great depth and ability to get around the junk. The 3 kHz will be next. I'm starting to hear some really great reports on it. I love new toys, especially ones that put the good finds in my hot little hands! It may cost a few bucks to buy the coils, but having the right coil for the area you are hunting can make a big difference in the finds. Coils are still far cheaper than buying different detectors for different jobs. The X-Terra 70 really does it all.
