3 ring bullet??? J initial on the bottom???

I found this bullet down by the river today. It was a surface find almost, it's just something I haven't seen before. Anyone know what kind of bullet this is? It looks to have at least two, maybe three rings. Also, it look like the bottom has the letter J in the bottom. It's not white like the civil war bullets. It also look like a cap of some sort on the top. Sorry for the picture quality.

Hard to tell with those pics. Many late 1800's and 1900's bullets have rings or grooves in them. If the rings are reeded (vertical ridges in the rings), then it's probably from the late 1800's or 1900's and not Civil War era.
