Found this years ago in a creek where I found artifacts. I’m still looking for a good I.D. On it as to what it is. It’s thin had a notch on one side other side had a notch but is worn off mostly. I looked at some of my books and didn’t see one like this. What’s your thoughts I’d appreciate if anyone knows. Found in NW Georgia

I was hoping some of the other artifacts guys would see this that don’t frequent the artifact forum much anymore. Lots of experience in this site.

I just watched a video of a guy doing a creek walk after a flood and he passed over a piece of shale with a hole though it. He said it was a roof shingle and the hole is a from a nail.
Maybe this is what you have?

Could it be a fishing weight of some kind?

I’ve never seen one before so I won’t rule it out as being a shingle. No houses out there but could of been at one time
