3 SILVER COINS TODAY & LARGE SILVER BROACH. I.D. Help with button. Other cool stuff
I moved a lot of dirt today and was rewarded with some nice finds. The hunt started with a park that backs up to some houses from the early 1900's - 1940's. After about 1hour and some clad and other Knick-Knack's a guy came walking up to me. I was thinking to myself here we go.He's going to give a hard time about digging in the park. I only say this because as I am sure you know a lot of us treasure hunters hobby is misunderstood.
Well I must say I was wrong. The guy was very nice and wanted to know all about my hobby and what brought me to this specific park. After I told him by doing research and finding the ages of the homes around I thought the park would be a good spot. He proceeded to tell me he had a metal detector that he received for Christmas a many years ago from his son who lives in CA. I asked him what are some of your better finds and he told me nothing. I said why and was told he tried it one time and gave up as it was to complicated for him to use. I asked what type and he had no clue. I offered to take a look at it and show him some pointers and he smiled and said really?
So I ended up at his house. A few minutes later he pulled out his detector. After looking at it was found to be a Whites Coins master. I know nothing about this detector but with 10mins on YouTube I thought I could point him in the right direction. With his full size shovel in tow we where digging his yard(1940's home). His first coin was a 1977 clad quarter and was so happy. We spent 3 hours hunting together and had a blast. As I was leaving he had already worked his way into the neighbors yard and I could tell he was hooked.
Below is a list of my finds today. I thank you for looking and wish you the best of luck on you next hunt.
3- Silver coins 1943,1946,1948
6- Wheat's 1942,1944,1946,1950,1958
1- Large Sterling broach I thought was junk. I did not even look close at it when dug as it did not look like silver. I just happed to clean it up for a photo.looking back at me was the sterling mark. WOW! It was so close to going in the trash!
1- Cool lead toy cowboy
1- Button I need I.D. Help with. Very detailed and small. I set the button on top of a dime for reference.
$2.06 In clad AKA Beer Money !
Other Knick Knicks (see photo)
