Sorry had to go radio silence until finishing the area today, we have competition on this target field (Nicknamed 'The Field of 500'). So we had to step it up a gear & cover the 25 acres as quickly as we could. It took us 5 outings as follows;

Sun
Me 9hrs + Dad 6hrs = 59 Roman Coins

Tues
Me 3hrs + Dad 2.5hrs = 15 Roman Coins

Weds
Both 4hrs = 34 Roman Coins

Today
Me 2.5hrs + Dad 1hr = 1 Roman Coin

143 Roman Bronze Coins (0 Silver :tongue3:)
Lion on Anchor Button - Need an ID?
Crotal Bell

Romano-Celtic Penannular Brooch (1st C BC- 1st AD)

Sheesh... what the hell were they doing back then ?

Drinking and tipping dancers ?

OR... there was a rash of "bad pockets" on the clothes ?

OR... :)

Well done man. Congrats

BTW... Anchor buton is from Navy blazer :)

It was a small Roman settlement, with possible port & dock.

That was it....
Great score with the coins, still giving. When looking at the pics it's a way other look than the last posts. Crazy. To me the unbroken pennanular brooch is the best find.

Looks like you spent quite a bit of time cherry picking without your dad. Shame on you.

After that many Romans, you must have been dying for a Roman silver! That's an amazing bunch, and some look to be in fantastic condition. Excellent hunting Cru, congrats

Your recovery rate is incredible, but those of us that follow your digs already know that. Fantastic Roman bronze. And that unbroken brooch - amazing example of beauty and survival in the dirt!

Congrats Cru and Cru'dad

Absolutely incredible Cru,fantastic results. Hard to believe Roman coins can still be found with such volume. Makes our mouths water on this side of the pond.

I'm simply speechless!!

So is that area now off-limits to you or will you be able to hit it again some time?

Geez....even :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy: doesn't NEARLY cover all those finds! ....Speechless!

I know you're joking, but 'cherry picking' is not a term we are familiar with. We systematically grid & clear everything we can, doesn't matter who is gridding but I find 70% of the finds with the better machine.

It's not off limits until its drilled (Planted).
But we won't return this year, unless, we have time & better conditions, ie. its been flattened a bit.
