Hello Tnet Gang,

I'm posting back to back days because I've got to tell you I found the needle in the haystack today!! I went back to the same turf where I found that piece of Washington quarter Monday, and would you believe I found another piece of it? It was about 10 ft away from the spot of my first piece. I've only been able to do that one other time last year on a Rosie. Now if I can only find the last little sliver, I will have found 3 silvers from one coin. ;D I doubt I'll find the last piece...it's very small. Mike(ratman) and I had another productive day today. I ended the day with 5 more silver (yes, almost everyone is chopped, those darn lawnmowers), along with 33 wheaties, and a "Good for 5 Cent in Trade" token.

It's been a fun and productive site, but hard on the body because you're always swinging on a 45 degree slope, so a half day's detecting is the limit.

Happy Hunting!!

Hello Captain!
We can always count on you to come through with silver and wheats! Congrats on finding the other part of that quarter! Do you change coils often? Or, do you have one you like the most?

Thanks, GRB. I've been using the same coil for the past 8 months. It's a stock Explorer II 1050 coil. Hands down much better than the stock slim-line.

Dan, you are the king of the cut wilver coin. That is pretty cool how you found another piece of that wilver.

I am still amazed at how many finds are still left in the turf of the many parks. You have not disappointed us on any of your posts.

Keep sweeping with the fever, my friend! :icon_sunny:

Thanks, Kyle. This site is loaded with cut coins. This is only the third time I've been to this part of the old LA park. I'm sure there's more in this area. Gotta keep milking it til it's "Bone Dry"...

Great going Dan on finding another part of the Quarter, which direction was it in N,S,E or W cause I know the three of us hit that area hard looking for stray pieces.

Great going on all the Wheats and Silver.

Well done my Friend.Nice job.Now where is the video? :tongue3:

Great finds Dan! You know, I've never seen a cut coin like that (although I've dug quite a few "mangled" ones :) ) What kind of mower did they use way back when??? Pretty wild that you found the missing piece of quarter!

Jon, the piece I found today was about 2 ft from the base of the oak tree. The tree you got your merc from on Mon.

Thanks a lot, Joe. I've seen some of the mowers our park maintenance crew uses. The have multiple cylindrical blades in a series on both sides of the driver(4 or 5 each side). This creates many chances for a coin to get clipped, and multiple times too. I would say with my quarter, the upper piece got clipped twice through the blades, while the bottom piece suffered no additional chops...

That is quite remarkable that you found another part of that chopped quarter. Nice finds!

Congrats on your continued domination out West! With all that cut silver, it won't be so difficult to just melt them down someday .

Very nice finds Dan --Hope you find the other half of that Merc.
I like that token.

Thanks, Merf. Not a sleding hill. Just a section of the park on the side of a big hill.

Thanks, Bulgarian!! No video today...my cameraman extraordinaire/md'ing buddy had to work today.

Thanks, Geodawn!! It's like finding a needle in a haystack.

Thanks, Henry. You're right. Chopped silver = easy melt.

Great stuff Dan. That's a nice looking silver puzzle you got going there. If you can find the last piece...that would be amazing
One other thing...that 1050 coil ain't too shabby is it ;D...yep...that was a pretty nice tip you gave me there brother :icon_sunny:

Nice finds! you sure get them cut up coins! Reminds me of a mercury dime I found several years ago all cut up.. found 3 of the 4 pieces, the last was too small to locate. Take care and HH, Mike.

Pretty wild those coins are all cut ...almost look like they've been cut with tin-snips :icon_scratch:

Are we reverting back to old ways and now cutting our coins to make change ? :laughing9: :dontknow:

Cool post Capt'n :icon_thumright: :blob9: :icon_thumleft:
