Hello Tnet Gang,

I'm posting back to back days because I've got to tell you I found the needle in the haystack today!! I went back to the same turf where I found that piece of Washington quarter Monday, and would you believe I found another piece of it? It was about 10 ft away from the spot of my first piece. I've only been able to do that one other time last year on a Rosie. Now if I can only find the last little sliver, I will have found 3 silvers from one coin. ;D I doubt I'll find the last piece...it's very small. Mike(ratman) and I had another productive day today. I ended the day with 5 more silver (yes, almost everyone is chopped, those darn lawnmowers), along with 33 wheaties, and a "Good for 5 Cent in Trade" token.

It's been a fun and productive site, but hard on the body because you're always swinging on a 45 degree slope, so a half day's detecting is the limit.

Happy Hunting!!

Dan

Captn, only you could find a missing piece of that Quarter  Do you think that when you find all the pieces you will have it restored? HH M.

Nice going Dan! Just my opinion, but that quarter looks like it was cut up intentionally..I have one that looks just like it someone chopped in half. Why someone would do that I have no clue :icon_scratch:

Nat

Congrats Capt, nice job recovering that other piece! Hope that merc wasn't a 16D!!!
WTG, Bootstrap :icon_pirat:

It's not like the other half of that merc was a 1916 D or anything?!!! :tongue3: ;D

Great stuff Dan. That's a nice looking silver puzzle you got going there. If you can find the last piece...that would be amazing
One other thing...that 1050 coil ain't too shabby is it ...yep...that was a pretty nice tip you gave me there brother

Thanks, Bryce. That last piece will be very difficult to find. I'm sure it's still there though. Oh Yeah, the 1050 coil = wicked finds!!

Nice finds! you sure get them cut up coins! Reminds me of a mercury dime I found several years ago all cut up.. found 3 of the 4 pieces, the last was too small to locate. Take care and HH, Mike

Thanks, Mike. Great job on finding those 3 pieces of that merc. Fantastic coin pic too. Thanks for sharing.

way to go on that sweet ( sectional ) silver...
Thanks, Allen!

Pretty wild those coins are all cut ...almost look like they've been cut with tin-snips
Are we reverting back to old ways and now cutting our coins to make change ?
Cool post Capt'n

HH !
Derek

Thanks, Derek!! No tin-snips. Large cylindrical, multiple blade mowers were the culprits. They're in almost every park here in S. CA.

Captn, only you could find a missing piece of that Quarter Do you think that when you find all the pieces you will have it restored? HH M.

Thanks, Michellets! I doubt I will restore it. The pieces are only 70 cents each. ;D

Very nice coins. I hate coin mutilation
Thanks, crazyjarhead. I'd call them "very unique".

Nat
Thanks, Nat. Who knows, maybe there was a crazy silver-hating guy back in the 50's who had a pair of tin-snips in his pocket, and cut all his pocket change, then deposited the pieces in almost every park in S. Ca. I know the mowers are the culprits. I haven't showed you all the clad, can-slaw, pulltabs, screwcaps, and just about anything I've been digging up in S. CA. parks over the past 18 months that the lawn mowers have destroyed.

Congrats Capt, nice job recovering that other piece! Hope that merc wasn't a 16D!!!
WTG, Bootstrap
Thanks, Bootstrap! I don't think my cut merc was a 16D. It looks more like a 40's silver.

Nice Finds ..Silver is wilver
Thanks, Randy. Yep, I find it in all shapes..

Dan,
That's just INSANE...
Holy Cow...I am a betting man & I bet you can go back and find the missing piece...
Very Nice my man...

Nick

Thanks, Nick! I'll probably give it one more try to find the last piece. If not, I'll move to more productive ground.

It's not like the other half of that merc was a 1916 D or anything?!!!

We'll never know, Fishtank, unless I find the other half.m :'(

I've heard about that guy..he's a big part of MDing lore out west ;D

I just wouldn't have thought a mower could section up a quarter that way. I'll take your word for it though Dan, I had no idea you've found them like that in so many different places.

Way to go Dan. There's nothing like filling up your metal detecting apron with a handful of silver and wheats. What are the odds you would find the other piece of the Washington? Nice!

That's cool your detector will hit those cut pieces of silver Captn :icon_sunny:

Great on the silver, SE! The worse place around here for that is the HS baseball field. I have found coins and a silver ring cut into there. :P Didn't find the other half of the ring or the coins at that site. Very neat that you did! 8) Love the token!!

Congrats!! Nana :)

"""I've been using the same coil for the past 8 months.
It's a stock Explorer II 1050 coil. Hands down much better than the stock slim-line."""

Hello Captain!
That's the only coil I don't have for the SE! Lol!
Not really but I have a bunch. I often use the Explorer II 800 series; it's a good coil also.
I personally find the SlimLine 10.5 an excellent coil in my area but could easily change my mind if I had the 1050 coil to compare it too. :)

OH YEAH!! That's so cool you found the other piece to that silver quarter! Your finds are always very impressive! YOU ARE A TREASURE HUNTING SUPER STAR!!! WOOHOOOO!!!!

Congrats on finding the second piece of the puzzle! 33 Wheats is a lot of wheats for one day! Way to go.

Dan,

Hey, friend, it has been awhile since I hvae been on here. A lot of things have been going on lately...Stacia's father's service and other stuff.

I have been still keeping my passion high even through all of this.

I see that you are still kicking CA a$$! :D That Sunray is making you proud!

Keep the passion high, my friend!

Thanks, Rob! I'm sure the odds were very slim in finding that second piece of the Washington. I, along with 2 of my buddies searched the first day to no avail. I'm sure the last piece would even be more difficult.

Thats the best kind of puzzle, Silver. WTG
JDD

Thanks, JDD.

Thanks, itbeepsidig!! Yes, the Explorer will find the smallest of silver pieces in the ground.

Congrats!! Nana

Thanks, Nana. So you have the dreaded chopped up coinage/rings too? That silver hater must have made his rounds to your area too. ;D Hope you continue your amazing finds streak!! Good luck.

that's wild WTG
Thanks, Sonny.

Thanks, Neil. You're not so bad yourself....keep that silver streak alive!!!

Congrats on finding the second piece of the puzzle! 33 Wheats is a lot of wheats for one day! Way to go.

Thanks, Prober. Yes, 33 wheats is definitely above my average for a 4.5 hr hunt.

Hello Kirk. Thanks, my friend. It's good to hear your passion is still high, even through life's trying times...I hope your passion finds you old Spanish Wilver and Colonial Coppas on your next outing.
Good luck!!

Hi Dan,

Sad news today . . . . . my silver finding streak has ended! I went out tonight for a few hours and only dug three wheats cents and NO SILVER COINS!! DANG IT!! But I did get to watch Ron dig a 1947-S Rosie dime and a 1899-S Barber dime ~ that was pretty cool!

Take care!
HH!!!
