Hi Th'er's!
I started the day yesterday with 9 silver coins for the year, I decided it would be a good day to look for more because a couple of house sites had come up recently. The fist place was where a house had recently been torn down to make a driveway. It had already been heavily searched by another Th'er who had found some wheats and a mercury dime from the 40's. I knew he could'nt have found it all. After about 19 minutes I recieved a deep coin signal and about seven inches down I popped out a 1917-s merc,it was a nice start but except for some new change it was all I found here, silver coin #10.
I then went to the two abandoned houses across town, after a few new coins I found a wheat cent and then a silver War nickel a 1943-s(#11),after severeal wheat pennies I found a 1963-s dime(#12). No more silver was found but I did find 14 wheats, the best being a 1927-s and a 1930-s. The newest was a 1955-d. With no more house's to search I assumed I would find no silver so I went off to find some new change. I started searching around the local swimming pool and found several dimes and quarters, ending with 22 dimes and 20 quarters for the day. After the first few quarters the unusual happened; I recieved a large signal and at the bottom of the grass was what seemed to be a 1889 Silver dollar. It looked right but did'nt feel right, silver coin #13. Twenty minutes later I recieved another large surface signal and out popped a Franklin half dollar, a 1963-d, Silver coin #14 and five for the day. It's beyond me why these two large coins were recent losses.
When I got home I looked closer at the dollar, the word "copy" was there, who would want to copy a 1889 silver dollar, one of the most seen dates of morgans? Looking closer I saw the mint mark CC,now it made sense. I'm sure there is some silver in this copy, but what a strange day....Kane 23

I just made a post about a silver dime I got in the grass at a park.
