It's your resident Coinstar hunter! I've been quiet but still gathering coins. Lately, I've not been able to look. However the coins...or in this case, bills, seem to be finding me!

Great find! It's been at least 10 years since I got one in my change. Who spends a 65 year old bill anyway? Not too bright.

Someone at a gas station, Tim!

got one some years ago..really cool

That has to be a tough find in circulation these days ( maybe a result of home burglary ) nice find !

I thought I had a good day this afternoon when I found $40 cash laying on the ground. Looks like you had a better day. Very cool!

I wonder if the government it required to give you $5 in Silver on demand??

Cool find,, congratulations

Since there is no monetised (denominated) silver coinage now - the government would simply be unable to " pay the bearer on demand " anything in silver ! Pragmatically the banks just don't have some supply of silver coinage with which to fulfill the promise on the silver certificate .

Nah they don't :( but it's still a wonderful find! As far as the home burglazation idea, well kids are always throwing them back into circulation because they're not worth much. There's an estimated $240 million USD worth of United States Notes still in circulation for example, and you can definitely find those notes still in circulation if you work retail/servince industry. Silver certs are so common that only the ones of finest quality cost more than face value anyways, I think there are about the same amount of silver certs still in circulation too. My buddy Mike found a 1963 $5 US Note while working at McDonalds. At one local restaurant they've found several US Notes too. My buddy in Iowa pulled a brown seal note out of the cash register at his job. My girlfriend found a 1910 Barber Dime at KFC. The guys at the gas station always set aside old and bizarre things for me to look at as well. The guys working at the local fast food have found several really nice older notes too. I've personally found silver quarters while working behind the front desk of a hotel, and I've recieved 7 silver quarters at once in my change! Ignorant kids and people are often the reason these things get thrown back into circulation, they rarely get returned to the mint because people pull them out all the time. Burglaries usually don't add these back into circ, they usually end up at the pawn shop.

sweet finds Im gonna need one of those~

Nice! I pay my local Sonic's carhops that I go to about everyday double face on their silver or other more rare money tips that they get. Just about all of the workers raid the register to trade out clad for the stuff I buy from them. It makes all of us happy! I Really Like Sonic Ice!! lol!

That’s crazy! I found $40 laying on the sidewalk yesterday too.

Or even sadder, an elderly person digging deep for some cash. Not knowing what they have.

The same people who still spend silver, or leave it in the coin star ! Lucky for us. Great find Monsta. I have never received a nice old bill like that back in change. I'd be smiling all the way home.

My daughter is a teller at a bank and gets those occasionally. Congrats

When uncle Sam went off the silver backed certs and coinage The banks kept droplets of silver to pay the demand if requested. Banks weighed out silver drops for a certain period which expired and then Uncle no longer had to honor the silver demand. I believe everyone had One year to do it. I still have some droplets from my grandfather somewhere. If I find them I will post a pic.

Congratualtions on the nice find! :occasion14:

It certainly was an excellent find.
