Every now and than you get lucky and dig some gold ring or a cool old silver coin. I got lucky yesterday while hunting a const. site with Pat and Mark. We were all digging a few bullets and than things got slow and I started hunting a corner area where there was a lot of trash. I was digging some camp lead when I get a real solid signal and there it was only a few inch's down the pocket watch! I have dug three over the years not counting this one. I moved to the other side and dug a few shot bullets than a dropped 3 ringer, than two more. I got Pat and Mark over there and they dug the rest. It was a fun day with a nice breeze and most of our hunting we were in shaded area's. Anyone know the approximate age of the watch? Hope everyone had a nice weekend

I am not sure but it is heavy! I weighed it on a scale at 1/4 lb! I will take it and have it checked at a local Jeweler and update than. Thanks for all the info I got from everyone.

That is way cool! You must have been thrilled to see that gold come out of the ground! Congrats on a truly special find. I love the engraved initials on it. The owner must have been very sad to have dropped and lost this treasure.

Nice going Tim,Congrat's on the PW

Congratulations on the watch. Personally, I wouldn't use electrolysis to get the back open. Electrolysis is the plating process in reverse. If that watch is gold plated, you would lose some or all of the gold. If it is solid gold, then you would of course, lose some of that precious metal, albeit microns.
