Got permission to detect a farm today that's been in the same family since the 1790's. Found one small area that was hot with large cents and pulled 6. 1817, 1822, 1827, 1831, one matron head with no date and one classic head with no date. Also found a little silver. I hunted about an acre or so around the house. 120+ acres to go 8-)

Sounds like a dream site that we'd all love to stumble upon- keep posting the finds and good luck!

Mr. b, that is a possibility, but from the way they were a bit scattered I don't think so. It may have been a spot for a farm stand or something.

Don, I once found three LCs in a small area near the house. Because of the location, I thought it might be an area where they dismounted their horses. Finding six in one spot is really fantastic, congrats!

terpfan, about 30 years ago I found 3 in one day at a church revival camp ground from the 1840's. I never expected something like this. Actually, the proximity of the finds to the house make me think that a dismount area is another possibility. I'm a little bummed that we got an unexpected 4" of snow today and we're not expected to get about the mid 20's for most of this coming week. It may be a while before I get back.

Nice Largies Don, 6 in one day is one heck of a day, CONGRATS :icon_thumleft:

Very impressive Don. I hope the 180 remaining acres are in more productive.
