Today was a day to try a few new areas, which didn't pan out, except for a 1973D Kennedy half. At the same spot I have been going to for a long time now, it started to heat up a bit. The first reading was a 1945 S merc, then I was lucky enough to get a 1939 Merc. It was nice to dig up an old lead figure again, a horse, who's head was off. :-\ Then, I started to dig up silver war nickels, one right after another, in a 10' radius. I was fortunate enough to find: 1943S, 1943D, 1943P and a 1945D silver nickels. Thanks for looking!! HH

Very nice day there, History Hunter!!

I've had a few 3 War Nickel days, but never found 4 in a day.

Congrats,

Great hunt and nice coins. I think nickels have always been nickle though. War years are more collectable but not silver...please correct me if I am wrong, someone.

SKD, War Nickels are composed of silver....about 35%. I count them as a silver find too.

Wartime Nickels Composition:

Metal content:
Copper - 56%
Silver - 35%
Manganese - 9%

I think this is the best I've done with war nickels in one outing, but I don't remember how many war nickels I found in outings years ago. Thanks for your interest!! HH
