The Lamborghini model is real enough, but it wasn’t created by an artist named Sophia Bennett, who is entirely fictional (as is the story about the model being destroyed and a failed legal action). This is yet another of those fake ‘rage-bait’ stories spreading widely across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook using AI-generated video footage.
The clips circulating, often cite fake news sites such as ‘USA News 24’ as the source, and the AI-videos are promulgated by viral content farms such as ‘dailynews-p3p’ (as per the tag on this one). The videos of the fake Lamborghini incident include multiple generation errors, such as bricks defying the laws of gravity, and morphing shapes. In one clip I saw a blonde lady in the crowd suddenly transform into a bald man!
The model (which is still intact) was actually built by a specialised team of 15 designers, engineers, and technicians at the LEGO Group's model production workshop in Kladno, in the Czech Republic for use in publicity It took them 8,660 hours (5,370 hours of digital design and development, followed by 3,290 hours of physical assembly) using over 400,000 LEGO Technic pieces.
Since it was always intended to be a travelling exhibit, it’s very solidly built, with the bricks cemented together using specialised chemical solvents, including acetone-based glue. There is no way that a small child (or even an adult) could effortlessly knock it apart by hand. It was also sprayed with official Lamborghini paint after completion to add to the realism, and has to be structurally rigid to prevent the paint cracking when the model is moved.
