Hello all,
Once again we managed to have 60 degree weather in mid February so we went out Saturday to the Civil War camp. We came up with 12 bullets, a small fired round ball and a piece of camp lead. A button back which broke our heart because you could see the imprint in the dirt where the front of the button was but all of the brass was gone. Speaking of breaking our hearts, We pulled out a pistol hammer which upon closer inspection seems to be from a toy cap gun and not period. Also some brass pieces (not sure what they go to), a belt adjuster and a hook of some kind (would like to know what it went to if possible). But the find of the day was made by my wife when she pulled out a thin brass handled single blade pocked knife with “American Knife” on both sides. Looks to be period from what little we can find on it. Anyway it was a very nice day to be outside. Thanks for looking. Any and all info on these items would be very much appreciated.

Nice finds and the knife is definitely period. I have seen them found in camps and even found one myself along a Union skirmish line in WV surrounded by Spencer casings.

Great hunt and the knife is very cool. Anytime we can hunt in February is a good day.
