~7 years a mystery~

Wow, it been years since posting to TN and many things have changed in life since being a teenager. Though one thing has stayed the same. I still continue to explore history and occasionally metal detect.
This find has been a mystery since digging it up at an easy to identify 1800s cellar hole site around 7 years ago. Since then the property has yielded two more never been discovered pioneer cellar holes the owners never knew of, one I found as recently of last week. The new discoveries also have deep dangerous open stone wells, everything hidden under thick junipers. And as far as the owners know I'm the only one to ever detect any of the sites.

This item is made of brass, 2 1/4 inches long and on omen end has an inner sleeve that extends to the centre kink, it spins freely and has a narrow notch inside running half its length. In the bottom picture the visible part of the sleeve Has broken off another unknown piece. It has "PAT IN CANADA 1900 stamped, and is the only item to come out of these sites with a date confirming they lived here into the 1900s. My guesses are it could be part of a wick holder, maybe a metal smoking pipe tip or piece, please help this 7 year mystery it would be real cool to find out.

Does the hole pass all the way through or just half way? Could be a hole punch for cigars.

The two ribs make me believe it was to have a flexible tube or hose attached to that end.

Hookah is one possibility. "Hygene bottle" may be another.

I hear that. I hunt a lot of thrift stores. One time I saw this nice looking little Asian looking jewelry box. When I took it off the shelf I heard something rolling around in it. What was inside looked like a fancy chrome bullet shape lipstick case. So I'm handling the thing wondering what the heck is this?. Having a push button on the bottom I just thought you push that and maybe it opens or does something? When I pushed that button that little thing started buzzing like a hornet. Boy I knew real quick what I was holding in my bare hands. Yuck! I headed immediately to my truck to fill my hands with six pumps of hand sanitizer.
