so yes i m still excited. yesterday i found 46 rolls of 40% halves. and 10 loose. 930 halves !! i m going to sell 100 for $3 per......and i made a deal with a " we buy silver " place. so they buy morgans for $17 and 40% for $ 2 . if i trade 800 halves for 100 morgans.....they make $ 1000 more on scrap value...i save morgans from being melted......and can make a little more on the morgans as collector coins instead of scrap. what do you think..............that good deal ?????? no matter what i probably will hold onto the morgans and a 465 dollar investment for $300 cash and 5 rolls of morgans is great........and i know for a fact they melted a CC morgan last year......they only want silver......even if it s worth $1000 by itself........... 8 f0r 1 .......what do you think ????

I wouldn't take it.. I would bet that you can find better deals elsewhere.. Maybe you could try Provident Metals.. I have never sold to them, but I hear they are pretty fair.. In my opinion you should also wait a little until the market settles.. Silver has been dropping the past couple days.. Anyone purchasing is going to use that as an excuse to pay less, especially a place like cash for gold that tends to rip people off..

Personally, I would not give away my 40%s for that low of a price. But that is all your decision. If they are giving you key date Morgans then I say go for it! You still win in either situation because you still will have more silver than you did before you got the awesome score.

You are paying way too much to exchange your silver for their silver. Remember, only make a deal when the benefit is mutual. 40%'s spot value is $4.20, are you honestly comfortable with receiving 28% less than spot?

Run for the hills. You can do better elsewhere such as Provident

I just sold some a few months ago and when silver was 34 and then 30 those places were only offering me 3.00 for a 40%. I found a old guy who paid me 4.50 and 4.30 for a hundred coins both times. A 40% is still 4.21 at spot so you would be buying those Morgans for 33.68 when that Morgan at spot is worth 22.04. I would try to get a better price for the 40%'s first at a different place then try to see what you can get some Morgans for instead of losing money on both ends of the deal trading with them. Do they have a waver out front?

Try to make a deal with them that they put aside all the coins they get and you can go through them and look for key dates and if tou find some you will do a trade where you will make some $ and they will make some $

Those prices seem kinda low to me.....you could probably do better selling on CL. If I were a buyer and didn't get my silver @ face I'd probably offer you a better deal than that. But my advise would be not to sell unless u have to. But what ever u decide....good luck.

H$H!

I'd try to look at the Morgans they wanted to trade first. Like you said, a couple CC Morgans would definitely bridge the silver content gap. Conditions are always key too.. anytime you can get a Morgan in Mint State, it's going to be worth way more than melt.

I just bought some morgans, not the best, but decent, mixed dates. 26 bucks per.

Don't trade the halfs for them.

My dealers are selling plain (not slick) Morgans for $30. Still holding premiums.

I needed to give a last minute gift to a friend. My LCS charged $35 per 1921 Morgan, and more for earlier dates.

I wouldn't sell the 40's for less than $3 apiece. I'll GIVE you $3 apiece for them.

At the minimum, try 7 to 1. Not 8 to 1.

Not a great deal, but consider this: 40% halves are not really "collectible" and can be hard to sell. Morgans are typically always collectible and are easy to sell. If you can get them to sweeten the deal a bit, I would consider it. Just something to think about.

go for it man sounds like a good deal

RIP OFF

Consign them to me, I'll sell them for $3.75 - $4 a piece even in this market and then buy you a bunch of morgans for $23-$25 each.

You gotta find better places to do business

I think ....... beautiful sarcasm! I love it!

Seems a bit low. You got a nice stack recently - call around the major dealers and see what you can get. Provident or Apmex will give you a better price and you have enough to to hit their minimum.

I actually wouldn't sell right now. Silver has taken 3 days of big hits to spot. Wait and see what happens. If it goes back up to the $32 range, then make a new deal. If it drops even further, hold on to what you have and you will be able to buy your Morgans for even cheaper. With the downward fluctuation, it is time to horde and wait for the downturn to head back up.

I would not sell them for 3.00 a piece. You just paid .50 each for them yesterday. Only making 2.50 each.
