Out on my 2nd hunt of the year and very limited do to frozen (but thawing) ground, and very muddy fields. We knocked on a door in one of our usual areas but no one home, so jumped on a little field that has been good to us but hunted several times now, and with the lack of much iron was getting pretty thin. We went in thinking we'd spend maybe an hour, dig a few small targets and then move on. What actually happened is I walked straight to the middle of the field and dug the RP button, filled the hole and took a few more swings and dug the Spanish silver 8 Reales about 6 feet away. :p Best 1-2 punch I've had in a while.. you feeling that one Abe? :laughing7: It's soaking/cleaning but will be a long process.

Welcome to the 8 Reales club a day I’ll never forget. Congratulations!!! Can’t wait to see her all washed up.

I've been there for 15 years. This is #2. :)

Iol....I remember mine was pitch black have no idea white is was till I cleaned it with soap and baking soda and then still didn’t know what it was but I could see clear as day 1829. Blew my mine found it in a sidewalk strip. Unbelievable

Most would be more like yours. This was unusually cruded up condition for a land find.

As if its not big and heavy enough already without adding the crud. HaHa
Congrats again. Thats a helluva start to the spring! [emoji2][emoji106]

IP GOT SOME NEEET FINDS

That 8 reale is a beauty, bet she cleans up nicely

I dug a 1794 Spanish 2 reale in January (not an easy coin to find in California), hope I don't have to wait 8 years to dig another Spanish silver :dontknow:

Cal

Damn dude that’s a killer Spanish! The best part is that it looks like a “dug” coin should! Dirty and nasty and grimy! Congrats on this obvious BANNER find bud. Way to set the bar real high right out of the gate. Bad strategy though lol....you always want to find these right before the snow so they’re fresh in people’s minds. Looks like I best get my ass out there and start fighting back. Happy for you brother

IP - Incredible finds. Just one such recovery would have made my season. I can't wait to see the end results of your treatment on the coin. Regarding the elbow grease, are you speaking figuratively? :icon_scratch: I would think a short cook with electrolysis would be the best way to go, though I would first need to find such an awesome coin - that's a tall order. The button is also awesome. Congrats to you!
