Man, it was hard work for few relics today. Digging buddy found a few bullets . . . one he left in the dirt, so to speak.

I came awful-close to getting skunked, but an eagle Cuff and a dropped 3-ringer saved me.

But the story of the day is Digging buddy's 80 year old dad!!!! The man is UNREAL. He dug with us ALL DAY.

He heard about my buckle from last week, and this morning, he found a gorgeous box plate, 6 feet away from my buckle. Man was he on cloud 9! And the dude is using a Nautilus built in the 70s!!! It's a beauty. Even the iron hooks are intact . . .

That's a great looking box plate! Digging and finds like that will keep him young!

WOW...I have a hard enough time at 38yo sometimes with my knees and back. Congrats to your buddy

That's a great story! And an awesome find! Congrats! I hope I'm still able to dig at his age and hope I can dig a nice plate like that sooner!

By the time I'm 80 Civil War relics will have long since deteriorated to dust, that's why I'm joining the hunt now. I'll show you old timers no mercy, hahaha! :D Argh! :laughing7::skullflag:

I want to be just like him when I grow up.
A real insperation.
ZDD

Great story, and even better that an old timer so to speak was able to get out with yas and grab that beauty!

Awesome story! I bet that was the best time spent in many years to him. Congrats to all on the great relics. All are very nice.

WTG Dad!! You guys are very fortunate to have sites with good potential still there. The plate is in great shape. HH, Q.

Great looking plate and it's also great to see that there are folks out there that think age is just a number and it doesn't limit their abilities to have fun.

Sweet box plate! I hope I am still walking at age 80 let alone digging like that!

I agree with everyone else here. I will consider my self extremely blessed to be able to go like that at that age. Heck, sometimes I wonder now what I'd do if something happened to make me unable to dig again. Scary thought!

Nice job to you both. 80 is the new 50 so, yeah. A lot of years left for diggin'. :occasion14:

I missed this post Yesterday.

A Great Plate indeed 'Awesome Condition'

Love the patina on the GS Button as well.

Davers

That's awesome man! Those old Jerry Tyndall built Nautilus machines can still hold their own against the new stuff out there. I'm lucky enough to have had one built by Jerry back in the late '80s. It still works pretty good, but now I can only swing it for 30 mins. before my arm goes numb! :notworthy:

Zodiac I'm with you on that one. Nice finds guys!

Looks like a great time there, hope one of those plates ends up under my coil someday !
