Hey Gravedigger.....atleast you came home with the loot....hubby and I went down there (oceanfront) a couple of days ago, NOTHING....infact, looked like the beach was gone LOL.

We went over to Croatan, water was washed up to the dunes, but the surfers where having a blast!!! I was able to come home with a dime, a quarter, a penny and a kid's elastic flower ring (which was laying on top of the ground).

Went to the overflow parking lot (part of what use to be Camp Pendleton)....all we got were BULLETS and every ding ding was a bullet. Hubby did manage to find a dime :). We did not give it a good scan, nor did we hit the entire area, but even the trees gave us nothing but bullets....oh well.

As always, I really enjoy your post, you find some awesome items.....

croatan is a great place to hunt after good storm..............u know it is just like hunting the O B X................sandbridge the same way - good after big storm

i should be in the lane right now, low tide tim has been there for over 60mins...............but i am waiting on u s postal service to bring me a new toy - should arrive very soon

see u and ron in the lane soon

good luck

Thanks GraveDigger....will keep that in mind for Croatan. That is where we did most of our beach hunts this summer. That is where I found the high school ring. But the ring had not been there more than a couple of days though...and I was able to return it to the young lady :)

We were going to head to Camp Pendleton to see if we could detect there, but our time ran out (kids where ending their school day)...so we will try this week.

We only went to Chick's Beach once....nothing but trash...we did find a few pennies, very crusted and some unreadable, sinkers, fishing hooks.

Ocean View, I really don't like going there by myself...but we did find some coins that had been there a very long time, nothing of value, but just enjoyed the hunt. Hubby did find a 1950 German coin and I found a game token :).

I guess we went to the beach just a tadbit to early, as Florence was still turning in the waters....we are learning :)

Hope your new toy arrives quickly so you can get back to the lane and then post to us all the wonderful things you found!!!! I keep telling hubby he needs to go in the water. Told him to bring his scuba gear and his scoop and just dig!!!!! LOL...that would work, wouldn't it? LOL

Hope to see ya'll out there soon (we can't go before 9am and not after 2:30 pm...kids in school).

I LIVE ABOUT 10MINS. FROM CHICKS BEACH BY WALKING (BAYLAKE PINES)

OCEANVIEW...................NOT A GOOD SPOT ALONE FOR SURE............MANY STRANGE THINGS AND PEOPLE GOING ON THERE, BUT A MUST AFTER BIG STORMS................WHERE THE OLD AMUSEMENT PARK WAS..............GETS REAL HOT WITH OLD CLAD

THE BAY IS GREAT FOR WATER HUNTING ESPECIALLY WHEN U FIND SOME HOLES................DRY.................BLEAK

Maybe we will try Chick's again soon.

I know the location of where you are. We are in the Malibu section...so we are about 10 mins (driving) from Chick's :).

Have you tried the military beach at the Amphibase? I also noticed they are tearing up the old PASS OFFICE at Gate 5. May have to stop this week and see base security and see if we could detect or not. I don't forsee the beach being a problem, but where the old PASS OFFICE was, not sure.

I know the military beach at Ft Story is a NO...dang it :(

If you ever want to detect the base and can't get on...let me know....I'll go with you.
