Tesoro Tiger Shark + Cheap Radio Shack + Whites DF PI + Aquasound
I have been saving up. This is my first post of finds. I have not been serious about MDing until I decided to bring my Radio Shack MD along with me to a short term job at the beach. My wife stayed at home for nine days before she came. During that time I had evenings to do what I wanted. 2 - 3 hours each evening MDing on two beaches in the dry sand produced $34.14 in change (nothing old), 1-gold ring, (initials are LACG, Google says LouisianA Compulsive Gamblers org.) 1-silver ring, 1-heavily tarnished heart locket, 1-silver colored sand dollar ear ring, 1-Colt Police Task Force pocket knife, 2-metal buttons and 1-Sacagawea GOLD (clad) dollar. My first GOLD coin ;D. The RS will not do wet sand or water, and I was so excited about my finds in the dry sand that I bought a Tesoro Tiger Shark to do wet sand and water. I have had the TS out twice now and am still getting use to the very different ID method. I have only found $0.44 and 1-junk ring in the wet sand and water, but I have made some discoveries: 1. The TS responded to my gold chain that the RS did not see. 2. The TS found a penny in the yard when I was trying it out that the RS could not see because of masking of adjacent iron that was being discriminated out. 3. The majority of the people were sun bathing on the beach or playing volley ball and were not in the water. You can't find stuff where it isn't lost :-\ I haven't given up my water hunt and I am having a great time. Happy Hunting!!

Nice pile of goodies! Good work.

You say "silver colored earring", but does that say 925 on there? That would make it real silver.

I was about to confirm that there were no markings on the back of the silver colored ear ring when I noticed in the picture that there is some marking on the side of the part that goes thru the ear, that I had not noticed before. Hmmmmm maybe it is silver. I will have to look at it again when I get home. Thanks for looking and making me think twice. Happy Hunting.

How about that!! I checked at home last night and the sand Dollar ear ring is marked 925 TMA on the shank, so it is silver too!!! Now my wife wants to know where the other one is so she can wear them. If I keep finding stuff I might get her interesed in looking too.

Ammmmmmmmmazing :ohunt. Congrats!

Great job. I know where I'm going for my next vacation. I used a Radio Shack detector once and they are better detectors than most people realize. Check out the Garrett Ace 250. I use mine exclusively. Quite a bargain and it does everything the big detectors do.

All that clad but you still tweaked out a few nice pieces of jewelry, nice silver ring!

Congrats on those digs!

Chris

The silver ring you found is very nice.
I like the gold piece too...
Keep on trucking...

:)
Nice finds, especially if you're just starting out!
Now I use a Bounty Hunter Time Ranger and
do quite well with it. I recently attended an
organized hunt down in VA and picked up coins
that other, higher priced detectors seemed to have
missed. So it's not the equipment alone, it's definitely
the person behind it!

Looks like you're doing pretty well. I think the Radio Shack is made by Bounty Hunter, correct? Some people knock the cheap detectors but these machines can sure find stuff! I am getting nostalgic for my Sears (relabeled White's) detector and might go out with it for a while. A skilled person with a bargain machine can out-hunt a beginner with a fancy machine, any day. If you're getting wet sand problems, try adjusting the ground balance if it has a knob for that.

Have you done depth tests with your RS machine? How does it do? What is the deepest you can find a coin sized object with it?

The Tiger Shark is a great machine! I have one too and have started using it in salt water. Once you get used to the falsing in saltwater, you can pick out good signals and find things pretty deep. I have dug up bits of iron that were so deep I almost gave up. I love this machine so much that I'd probably sleep with it under my pillow, if only it would fit there. ;D

Congrats! I think you did great! Many more finds to come with your new Tesoro. :hello2:

I do not think the Tesoro is new anymore..the original post is almost 7 years old...:laughing7:
