97 Degree Day @ 1740's Colonial Home (Yard) ** UPDATE PHOTOS **

Hello all!

What was I thinking... I yeah... Hello my name is Paul and a MD'ing addict !! It was 100+ yesterday... but recently at a family get together a family member was talking about always enjoying seeing and reading about my find and suggest I come up some time as they live in a 1740's Colonial and have been there for 20 years... In that time no one had detected there... Concord, NH... 2.5 hours door to door... So plans were made... Today was ther day...

I arrived and got the tour and some history... This was one of the first 4 hours build in Concord near the Merrimack River... In fact their yard is sand sediment from being where the river used to flow... Dry dry dry sand... Hot summer day with bonce dry sand I was worried about depth and pin pointing, but hey... ENJOY the journey right :-)

I started with 3 nickles close to the surface... then... 20 minutes in... I get a 45ish conductive tone @ 2"... I'm thinking new dime...

Albert G. Pearson and William V. Dana Boots And Shoes US Merchant Token. (Wholesale and Retail) Minted between 1858-1860. (28mm Brass) Firm was located at 184 Lake St. Chicago, Ill. By 1865 the firm relocated to 166 Lake St.

For the next hour I was getting lead scrap, plated spoon, small buckle, forged nails...

Then I have a 33-35 conductive tone @ 4" and I was thinking Indian Head... I wasn't thinking Farthing...

1749 KG II! In pretty amazing condition... Now I'm thinking... Dry sand... OH BOY !!!!!!

Out poppoed a few Indian Head's during the next Hour..

This was a SOLID 12/46... even out of the hole... and man I wished there was a gold halmark... Just P&K stamped inside... Looks like a Christmas Lockett

It was 97... I was drinking, but after almost 5 hours... I head was a hurting and I needed food... I got to maybe a 1/3 of the property... I'm going back in a few weeks :-)

Paul, you did really well today man! :notworthy:

The sandy soil in Concord, NH really helped preserve the metal! :o

Love the locket!
P&K stands for Pitman and Keeler.

PITMAN & KEELER Co.
The Pitman & Keeler Company was established in the early 1900s in Attleboro Mass.,
and quickly became known for their high quality pieces.

Good stuff, and I know they are much better than the pictures show. Great patina on those. I think it's been quite a while since I dug an early Farthing.
